The Harvest Experience
Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a winemaker is like? Or what it would feel like to be swept up in the exhilarating energy of harvest? If you’ve visited Sonoma Valley in those critical weeks while the harvest season is in full swing, you know that the air is alive with the electric pulse of a myriad hands picking grapes, crush-pads wet with the sticky juice of newly pressed varieties, and the scent of new barrels and pomace permeate the air.
If you’ve ever wanted to experience harvest like this or spend a day in the life of a winemaker, we are offering this unique opportunity to do just that: The Harvest Experience, a wine club exclusive event.
The Harvest Experience is a 3-part event that will take you deep into what harvest truly entails. The day will begin at Muscardini Cellars to check in and meet your hosts for the day; winemaker Michael Muscardini and wine club manager, Meghan Letters - they will be your guides for the experience throughout the day.
Michael and Meghan will transport you to the first stop of the day; a visit to one of Sonoma Valley's newest and most premier AVA's; Moon Mountain District. Our Rancho Salina Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend is sourced from Rancho Salina Vineyards which is located in the Moon Mountain District. Upon visiting, you will get to meet the vineyard owner and grape grower, Dom Paino. Dom will share insights of his harvest experiences, educate everyone on what his days are like during the harvest season, and have the group sample different grapes from the vineyard to demonstrate where the winemaking process begins.
The vineyard tour will be followed with a visit to Deerfield Ranch Winery; one of our neighboring wineries which happens to also be the winemaking facility where our wines are made. You'll get to see everything involved in harvesting grapes once they arrive there from the vineyard; from the crush pad and crush equipment to the wine cave that stores our wine while it's in barrels. The visit in the wine cave will also show you some perspective on the different types of oak barrels used to age our wines. Michael will educate the group on the harvest and winemaking process he goes through with each wine and will share tastes straight some of the barrels.
The event will conclude back at the tasting room with a winemaker's vertical library wine tasting and lunch. Michael will guide the group through a vertical library tasting of Rancho Salina featuring the 2010, 2012, and 2013 vintages. This will demonstrate the age ability of his wines and why his unique winemaking style enables Muscardini Cellars wines to be drinkable now or in years to come. Lunch will be provided by one of our favorite local food purveyor's; The Tri Tip Trolley.
Event is exclusively offered to Muscardini Cellars wine club members. Space is limited to 24 guests. All guests must 21 or older to attend. For more information regarding this event, please contact Meghan letters, email@example.com.
