Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a winemaker is like? Or what it would feel like to be swept up in the exhilarating energy of harvest? If you’ve visited Sonoma Valley in those critical weeks while the harvest season is in full swing, you know that the air is alive with the electric pulse of a myriad hands picking grapes, crush-pads wet with the sticky juice of newly pressed varieties, and the scent of new barrels and pomace permeate the air.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience harvest like this or spend a day in the life of a winemaker, we are offering this unique opportunity to do just that: The Harvest Experience, a wine club exclusive event on Saturday, September 29th from 11am to 3pm.

The Harvest Experience is a 3-part event that will take you deep into what harvest truly entails. The day will begin at Muscardini Cellars to check in and meet your hosts for the day; Winemaker Michael Muscardini and Wine Club Director, Karen Hannah - they will be your guides for the experience throughout the day.

Stop 1- Cassata Vineyards, Sonoma Valley
One of the prized vineyards that Michael Muscardini has made wine from for many vintages, Cassata Vineyards, is located in the the premier AVA of Sonoma Valley. Meet vineyard owner and grape grower, Pat Cassata, who will share insights about the harvest process in the vineyard and educate us on the beginning of the winemaking process. Before getting back on the bus, sample grapes straight from the vine to see where the magic begins.

Stop 2- Deerfield Ranch Winery, Kenwood
After understanding the growing process, we'll move into the winemaking process at our custom crush facility at Deerfield Ranch Winery. Michael will tour guests through the crush pad to see all the interworkings of crushing grapes once they arrive from the vineyard. Visiting the wine cave where our wine sits in barrels will give you some perspective on the different types of oak we use to age our wines. Barrel tasting is a great way to explore the all-important aging process of winemaking.

Stop 3- Muscardini Cellars ~ Winemaker's Lunch & Vertical Tasting, Kenwood 
After a lovely day of learning, the event will conclude with a winemakers vertical library wine tasting and lunch. Michael will guide you through 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon from Cassata Vineyards describing each different vintage and their unique properties. Then enjoy a beautifully catered meal by one of our favorite local food purveyors; El Molino Central. 

Tickets are $95 per person which includes transportation, tasting, and lunch.
